About the Session
Clothilde re-positions regional art hubs as the centre of community and artistic life in the state, and poses a series of future-focused provocations, asking the audience to consider what it might look like to develop, strengthen and connect all areas of policy and strategy with what happens on the ground – and how this could be imagined as a sustainable new reality.
Meet the Speaker
Clothilde Bullen
Before joining Edith Cowan University, Clothilde Bullen held senior curatorial and executive roles at the Art Gallery of Western Australia and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, where she was the inaugural Senior Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Collections and Exhibitions. Her award-winning exhibitions include Richard Bell: You Can Go Now, and John Mawurndjul: I am the old and the new. She has also contributed through board and advisory roles, including as Chair of the National Association for the Visual Arts and the Australian chapter of the International Association of Art Critics. She has written widely, co-edited Artlink and championed pathways for First Nations writers and arts workers. In 2025, she was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the arts, particularly Indigenous arts.
